January 1st – Happy New Year!

by Lara-Maree MacGillivray January 1, 2019 1 Comment

I guess so far, I’ve not been the best at posting or content. I’ve scrapped and restarted  my blog several times – monthly to be precise. It’s not that I can’t be bothered posting or that I’m not committed enough. I’ve just struggled to find my niche since the day I started…

Its not that I’m blogging on something I have no interest in but the opposite in fact… I have too many passions. Not just for my choice of craft but also herbalism, painting, cosplaying and many, MANY More. There’s just no way I could pick one topic to base my craft blog off and even then  not everything I do relates to Catsith crafts especially when I’m revising or volunteering.

TBH when I’m revising I don’t have time for much else which is sad but grades come first. Particularly when your aiming for 5 As to get into med school. And this requires an 3 hour a day revision schedule which doesn’t leave enough time for craft blogging photos with the retreating daylight. As usually by time I get round to it the lighting isn’t right. Arghhhh! I’m sure we’ve all been there that’s why back in 2018 I decided to postpone any further posting till 2019 as to be planned in advance but despite that I still needed an niche.

However I’m so incisive and broad minded it seemed near impossible conforming to singular aspect of my life. Particularly as I’d argue everything is creative and art, so I went on like this for quite some time trying to find the aspect of my life people could associate me with and then it hit me.

Every thing I do seems to come back to Scotland and  my highland life.

And my friends are like du? that’s kind of obvious, you live there?

I’m kidding, they don’t actually talk like that, but still its seems rather straight forward and simplistic that the things you do are based where you live, but that’s not necessarily true. I live on the outskirts of inverness surrounded by the beauty of forests and fields and despite this unfortunately I know far too many people who have nothing to do with it.

Its rather saddening the number of people in my school year who’ve never experienced the pleasure of strolling through a freshly cut field or even running through a burn. I guess that’s what truly sets me apart from every one else my longing for nature from the Scottish highlands in particular.

In fact I cant think of anything better than chucking on a pair of wellies, jacket and knitwear and go bumming about down the bottom of a field with my trusty fox red Labrador. Its what really makes me who I am and what my classmates call “weird”

And that’s what I hope to represent in my crafts : my Scottish life and love of nature, as I realise that’s what suits me best.

So, here’s to a new start of Catsith this 2019

Happy new year!
