Begin by cutting a piece of denim in 21 x 62 cm approximately, and lay it the wrong side up.
Fold the top and botton edge up by an inch, and over again to give the rim of your bag and top stitch in place.
Cut out your design from felt or fabric of your choosing.
Pin the cat on the cover of your bag and zig zag stitch it round the edges to hold it in place.
Turn your bag WSF and fold in half so that the bottom edge is in line with the top edge and stitch together down either edge.
Take a piece of pink felt and cut a tiny nose for your cat and glue it in place on top of your bag.
Cut rectangle of black fur fabric, fold in half width wise and sew along the seam for the tail and stitch into place on your cats body. Turns out I run out of fur fabric. My apologies, so my tote doesn’t have a tail.
Sew on some little whiskers with black thread.
Sew on two green ovals for your cats eyes using black thread to stitch on the pupil.
Taking spare strips of denim or ribbon you can begin to French plait the handles.
Tie in secure nots at either end and stitch down onto the bag by hand.
Taking 2″ wide strips of black lace, tie two bows and stitch them at either corner at the top of the bag.
Your cat tote is now ready to be sported around the village on Halloween… And to be filled up with sweets!
I think these totes look super sophisticated and are totally acceptable to be used by adults, you could even line them if you wanted too with Halloween fabric for the extra factor.
I hope you like them.
